What's available

• Monthly national figures for all food-at-home and six BLS-aligned categories: index level, month-over-month change, basket cost, and price dispersion.
• Metro-level pages for major markets where our data density supports honest publication — a local angle national statistics can't offer. Currently including San Diego, CA, Los Angeles, CA, Dallas, TX, Las Vegas, NV, Nashville, TN, Chicago, IL, Milwaukee, WI, and Philadelphia, PA.
• A separately labeled delivery-price series — the same basket as observed on delivery platforms, published alongside but never blended with in-store prices. We deliberately do not publish a “delivery premium” figure: the two series don't price an identical item mix, so their difference would measure our coverage as much as any markup. Doing it properly means matching items across both bases, which is on the roadmap.
• Sample sizes on every figure — each number displays its observation, store, and banner counts, so you can judge it yourself.
• Permanent URLs. Each monthly release lives at /price-index/vs-cpi/YYYY-MM forever; a citation never rots.
• Raw CSV of the full published dataset — national and metro history, both price bases — documented column by column in the data dictionary.

Ready-to-publish visuals, generated from live data — each one re-renders with the current month, so a link you save today shows the newest figures whenever it loads. All are 1200×630 PNG, cleared for editorial use with attribution.

All published index data is licensed CC BY 4.0: use it in articles, broadcasts, charts, and research — commercially or otherwise — with attribution to GroceryChop. Screenshots of our charts count as attribution when the GroceryChop mark is visible.

Good to know before you quote us

• Our figures are observed shelf prices, not a survey, and are not seasonally adjusted — they complement the official CPI rather than replace it. The methodology page spells out exactly what is and isn't comparable.
• We publish aggregates only — we don't provide retailer-vs-retailer price comparisons or individual product price lists.
• Levels are indicative; changes are precise. A basket cost depends on which items cleared our thresholds in that market, so city-vs-city and shelf-vs-delivery level gaps mix real price differences with coverage differences. The month-over-month change compares the same items at the same stores and has no such problem — lead with it.
• When a figure shows “—”, the data didn't meet our publication thresholds. We withhold rather than estimate; please don't fill the gap by interpolating.
